Hindi Song | Saajan (1991) [Requested]

SaajanAn anonymous friend of ours had requested Saajan's songs quite long ago. Now that I'm finally posting it, I hope he/she finds out it is up.

Saajan is a film starring young Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit and Salman Khan in the lead roles. From what I've read about it online, Saajan was a super hit. It is directed by Lawrence D'Souza.

The music directors of Saajan are Nadeem Sharavan (Nadeem Saifi and Sharavan Rathod). If you are into the 90's movies then this album should be a treat for your. Enjoy!

Hindi Song | Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003) [Requested]

Kal Ho Naa HoDirected by Nikkil Advani and starring Saif Ali Khan, Shahrukh Khan and Preity Zinta, Kal Ho Naa Ho is/was one of the best movies of 2003 (can't believe it's already been 3 years since it's release), and one of my favorite. I specially like Saif's performance in this movie; compare it with his performance in Dil Chahta Hai and you will see how much he has grown as an actor, and I'm sure as a person as well.

Music of Kal Ho Naa Ho is directed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy who have created the most catchy songs ever. Love the songs. Btw, this album was requested by Tuba through email. Enjoy the songs Tuba!

Hindi Song | Umrao Jaan (2006)

Umrao Jaan is claimed to be based on a 1904 novel by Mirza Hadi Ruswa titled Umrao Jaan Ada (according to Bollywood Trivia), but it was generally thought to be a remake of the 1989 film with the same title starring Rekha. The new Umrao Jaan stars Aishwarya Rai, Abhishek Bachchan, Shabana Azmi, Suniel Shetty, Puru Rajkumar and Divya Dutta. It is directed by J.P. Dutta.

The music of Umrao Jaan is by Anu Malik. Even though I'm not very fond of this genre of music (don't really know what it is called), I think Mr. Malik has done a pretty good job here. However, the music of the Rekha starrer Umrao Jaan which I for some reason have watched, is much better. I loved the film and the music alike. Rekha was absolutely wonerful. I'm really anxious to see how successfully Aish is going to play the role that was superbly done by Rekha.

Hindi Song | Bluffmaster (2005) [Requested]

BluffmasterI don't really remember where and when this soundtrack album was requested or who did request (aplogies for that), but it was requested who I hope finds out that I finally posted it.

Bluffmaster stars Abhishek Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra, Nana Patekar and Ritesh Deshmukh, and it is directed by Rohan Sippy. The music directors are Vishal and Shekhar who have done a really great job. I've always enjoyed listening to them (except a few, of course). Most of the songs in this album seem to be remixes of old songs, or at least that's how I feel. There is even a song (Do Aur Do Paunch) by Kishore Kumar. Btw, does anyone know what language is the song 'Bure Bure/Boro Boro' in? Some of it is Hindi, but majority is not. And somehow this song is one of my favourite from this album.

Hindi Song | Jhankaar Beats (2003) [Requested]

Jhankaar Beats stars Sujoy Ghosh and stars Sanjay Suri, Rahul Bose, Juhi Chawla, Rinki Khanna, Riya Sen, and Shyaman Munshi. The music directors are the famous duo Vishal Shekhar (not Vishal & Shekahar from Bluffmaster ). Very distinct and different type of songs, like the film itself. Loved the movie, and love the songs (some of them). Enjoy the songs, and if you can, do watch the movie. You are gonna like it.

Hindi Song | Strings - Bound By Faith (2006)

Strings - Bound By Faith I recently got a green light for posting String's soundtrack from the man himself, Sanjay Jha, the director of the film. We bollybloggers have had the honor to be in direct contact with him, as he is also a fellow blogger. He has a personal blog, and two other blog on each of the films he has directed; Strings - Bound By Faith and Praan Jaaye Par Shaan Na Jaaye.

Strings stars Sandhya Mridul, Adam Bedi, Tannishtha Chatterjee and Vineet Kumar in the lead roles. The music of Strings is directed by Zubeen. According to Smashits.com, this is his first film and he has definitely done a great job. The very first thing I noticed when I listened to the songs was that Zubeen has experimented with two different styles in this album; the first three songs (Piya Milan Ko Jaana, Kaise Kaho and Ishq) are quite different from the other three. I personally very much like the second half of the album (i.e. Ramo Ramo, Rimjhim and Mantra). I don't know if it is fair to say so, but I think the last three songs are quite A.R. Remanish in style and that is the kind of music I like. Ramo Ramo is my personal favorite.

If you visit DHS regularly, then you know that my judgement of quality of music is based on how well it entertains me. The reason for that is I rarely pay attention to the lyrics of Hindi songs, because I usually don't understand more than half of the words used. Neither is my knowlegde of music so much that I could comment on the artistic aspect of any music album. So I solely depend on the entertainment and playfulness of songs, and how memorable they are.

I really recommend you visit Sanjay's blogs and read about his latest activities and his thoughts. From my own interactions with him, I can surely say that he would love to answer any questions you have. He is a very down to earth and decent man.

Hindi Song | Vivah (2006)

Starring Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao in the lead roles, Vivah is a story, as the title says, mainly about marriage, but it comes with all the other typical family issues depicted in most Bollywood movies. Being raised by uncle due to parents' death, agreeing to marry to fulfill parents' wishes, blah blah blah. Other major casts of Vivah includes Anupam Kher and Mohnish Bel(?).

Music is by Ravindra Jain, and it is not something I would listen to again. It could actually be pretty good for some (I highly doubt that), but it definitely isn't for me. Looking at all the promotional stuff and the music of Vivah, I seriously don't care when it will be released.
